About Ron

Ron Chilton, known as "Radio Ron," spent nearly 40 years in Kentucky radio — starting at WHIR in his hometown of Danville, where he graduated high school in 1953, before moving through Lexington and on to Louisville, where he still lives at 89. Alongside his broadcasting career, Chilton has competed in the Kentucky Senior Games every year since 1998, racing everything from the 50m to the 1500m race walk, plus shot put, discus, long jump, and hammer throw. He has won roughly 550 medals across his Senior Games career, including 10 golds in a single recent year, making him one of the most decorated masters athletes in the state.
